About Knight Masonry
What is Knight Masonry?
Knight Masonry is a chivalric fraternal Masonic Order that confers three degrees of high symbolic, philosophical, and moral value. In the Irish tradition, these degrees continue the story of the Temple in Jerusalem and complete the Masonic legend of the Temple.
The Province of Ohio presents accurate, respectful information about the Order and its place in the wider Masonic family.
History
A brief history
The Grand Council of Knight Masons was formed in 1923 to preserve, practice, and perpetuate the Irish Knight Mason degrees. The Province of Ohio remains under the jurisdiction of the original Grand Council of Knight Masons and represents the Grand Council and its traditions within Ohio.

Knight of the East

This degree continues the historical and symbolic account of the journey toward Jerusalem and the restoration of the Temple.
Knight of the East and West
Also associated with the Royal Order
This degree completes the series and the account of the return to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the Second Temple.
Membership
Eligibility and inquiries
The Grand Council states that an eligible candidate is a Master Mason who is also a Mark Master Mason and Royal Arch Mason in good standing. The Grand Council further states that an eligible candidate may apply after one year. Specific procedures, fees, schedules, and local requirements should be confirmed with a Council or Province officer.
Important: Membership inquiries are handled by the appropriate Council and are subject to the laws, regulations, and approval procedures of the Order.
